The Healing God: Part 1 - Spiritual
58True Healing Begins on the Inside
The Bible warns us against ignoring "so great a salvation," mainly because salvation through Christ covers every aspect of our human existence: spiritually, mentally and physically - that touches all the basics of the human condition.
Let’s consider that first aspect of spiritual redemption.
John chapter 4: verse 24
“God is a Spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and truth….
Whether or not you believe that you have a spirit nature, you do. In the same manner that our physical brain is separate from the intangible essence of our mind, our physical body is separate from the intangible element of our spirit.
That spirit is at the core of our existence. I would go so far to say that our entire work on this earth is foundationally based on being spiritually reconciled back to God the Father, who is a Spirit. To reconcile us, to heal us spiritually, God used the blood of his son.
Romans chapter 5: verses 8-10
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! For if, when we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!
Do not ignore so great a salvation, the blood of Jesus heals us spiritually because God is spirit. God envisioned this spiritual healing for us so that we could be reconciled and restored back to Him from our innate selfish nature.
Second Peter chapter 1: verse 4
“Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil (human) desires.”
The escape takes the form of the redemptive power of the blood, which was made possible by the will of God who is Spirit.
The next part of this series will look at the mental healing that God wants for us as well.
